As the demand for higher and higher data transfer speeds increases, both local and wide area Fibre Optic cabling is becoming an increasing necessity as a delivery method, even down to the desk.

As local area networks`s have grown, Fibre Optic solutions have traditionally been used as a method of providing backbone links which increases avalible bandwidth levels and distance for transfer.

Effectively, Fibre offers the user the option to run larger data bandwidth packets over a greater distance than Copper cable.

We design and install Fibre Optic solutions ranging from:

  • Single mode/ OS1: Ideal for long distance at high bandwidth.
  • Multimode/ OS2 and OS3: With the upcoming 10G network, bandwidth over distance is critical and the traditional Multimode Fibre (62.5µm OM1) is not suited. The new breed of Multimode fibre, 50µm OM3, is a better solution for the ever increasing demand for bandwidth.
  • Blown Fibre: This is a sophisticated method of installing the outer tube for the fibre, before the fibre is needed. Once the infrastructure is in place, the relevant Fibre Cores can be easily installed at the convenience of the customer using our fully trained engineers that are fully equipped with relevant Hi Tech equipment.
  • Direct termination: Direct terminated connectors are designed for termination of indoor cables.
  • Fusion splicing termination: Pre-terminated pigtails are a length of fibre cord with your choice of optical connector factory terminated at one end. These pigtails are then fusion spliced in to the installed cable.
  • FLUKE DSP 4000 series testing: The FLUKE gives an accurate measure of the total Db loss down the length of fibre. This is ideal if you just need to know if your fibre works or not. It doesn’t print out all the graphs and technical data like an OTDR.
  • Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) testing: This provides a graphical view of the loss versus distance of the fibre. By testing with an OTDR, any fusion splice or connector interface along the length of a fibre link can be inspected individually to ensure it meets specification.

All our experienced engineers have the specialised equipment for the installation of fibre followed by terminating and testing. Once full testing has been completed, a set of the results are provided.
